  Our party of seven dined at Bad Roman after a friend highly recommended the restaurant, and it absolutely lived up to the hype. From the outside, we weren’t sure what to expect. I actually thought the entrance led to the kitchen! But once we walked through the doors, we were amazed. The restaurant is stunning. The décor is bold and elegant, and although I usually prefer simpler spaces, I loved it. Our semi-circular table was perfect for our group, making the evening feel warm, cozy, and inviting. Our waiter was friendly, knowledgeable, and happy to answer all of our questions while helping us choose wines and dishes. The service was attentive, and our food arrived quickly without feeling rushed. The food was outstanding. The charred eggplant appetizer was one of the most delicious dishes I’ve ever tasted, and the calamari was fantastic. One friend ordered the gnocchi, which looked incredible, while another enjoyed a pasta topped with freshly shaved truffle. Every dish was beautifully presented, and everyone loved their meal. We were so full that we skipped dessert. One unexpected highlight was the women’s restroom. The chandeliers and murals were absolutely beautiful, and it quickly became a fun place for the ladies in our group to take pictures. I also appreciated the diversity of the staff. Seeing people from different backgrounds working together created such a warm and welcoming atmosphere and made us feel even more comfortable.

  Need to share about our brutally disappointing special occasion experience at Bad Roman while it’s fresh in mind… Our group of 10 arrived to a reservation booked well in advance. We waited over an hour to be seated despite our entire party there no later than 8 minutes past the resy. During that time, we were all shuffled throughout an extremely crowded restaurant with little to no hospitality, including no assistance with coat check upon arrival. When we were finally seated, we noticed the table was rolled out from storage and covered with a white tablecloth, creating an awkward setup that felt improvised and entirely inconsistent with the rest of the dining room. We stuck out like sore thumbs from the start. Once seated, the issues only compounded. Service was painfully slow and our waitress was rather dismissive, she rarely checked on us and we had to repeatedly flag her down just to get basic help. We weren’t informed that items we ordered were unavailable until after we finished our appetizers and only after we asked. To make matters worse, bussers spilled drinks on arrival, and some of our entrees came out cold, including the most expensive dishes ordered. That was the final straw. We asked to speak to a manager, and she genuinely tried to make things right! We are still talking about how we greatly we appreciated her efforts to salvage this. It did not go unnoticed and I hope this review stayed somewhat objective to serve as another POV. Yes, the restaurant was slammed, but the team’s stress fully spilled into our experience. This was meant to be an extremely special evening: we all flew in to NYC to celebrate our best friend’s proposal, and this dinner was also the bride-to-be’s 30th birthday. We didn’t intend on spending almost 5 hours at dinner, yet the chaos was exhausting and forced us to cancel our post-dinner plans entirely. From the moment we walked in, things felt really off. I’ve omitted several other blunders but these were what stuck out to my end of the table. For context, half of our group are manager and owners in food and hospitality, so these lapses were literally impossible to ignore! We obviously spent the night commenting among ourselves, and it was noticeable that servers and even the sommelier were eavesdropping, yet none of them made any effort to correct the trail of situations. To top it all off, we later realized the restaurant has yet to be inspected for food safety, which is a whole other thing that is especially concerning. The decor is undeniably sexy, and the food menu and drink program had so much potential which is exactly why we chose Bad Roman. Unfortunately, it is absolutely not worth the stressful visit for a group, a busy night, or a special occasion. This was a huge bummer on our last night in NYC. Best to take your money elsewhere chef-owned with more personalized service.

  We had a fantastic family trip to New York City and were recommended to try Bad Roman for dinner. With our large party, the staff was incredibly accommodating—even modifying our reservations at the last minute. Thank you! We especially enjoyed the Filet Mignon Meatballs, Short Rib Pappardelle, and Veal Milanese. The Lemon Cheesecake is a must-try—it was absolutely delicious, and the presentation was flawless. We’ll definitely be back!

  Bad Roman is one of the best restaurants in New York located at the very heart of the City. The restaurant is just beautiful with great views. I was happy to celebrate my birthday there. I was touched by efforts of Noah Alexander, the manager to arrange a round table for my party.

  Wow! This place is delicious! This place has the best atmosphere! The bar, service and management team are all perfect! The meatballs are the best I’ve ever had. I was there with a large group and everyone was raving about their entrees. I highly recommend this restaurant for family dinner, date night or corporate dinner.
