  This is a review of the restaurant’s reservation system and not the restaurant experience since they did not deem me worthy enough to spend my money and tome in their business. First of all, what is the fuss?! Why do you not let people reserve a table far in advance, and open tables a month in advance on the hour?! You want to seem unreachable? Congratulations- you have made people think you’re a big deal. But it has also made you believe you are a bigger deal than you are, hence the rudeness mentioned in your reviews time and time again. This is opposite of the warm culture and hospitality of the persian culture you try to represent through your cuisine. We were planning to visit your shop with a larger group of friends. We emailed the email address as directed on the website well in advance, and were still only offered really early or late dining times even though we were flexible on our availability day, in a separate room, with $120 per person set menu excluding drinks and dessert. Ok that is quite a large bill - worth good food and experience you guess?! Correct! But only if you are received by a business in a manner that shows they want your business. That is not how Sofreh staff responded to our questions, in each correspondence we felt our presence makes no difference to them, and they were not interested in finding a good time we could visit their shop, and so we decided to take our business, money and time to another great persian restaurant in Brooklyn where we were really wanted and had a great food and company experience.

  SOFREH-KIN’ DELICIOUS!!! Came in with a big group on a weeknight and ordered about half the menu. If you don’t have a reservation, they take the first five people in for bar seating each night and the remaining are waitlisted, which is about a 2 hour wait. The stars of the “sofreh” were the ribeye, halibut — fish of the day, mushroom, cauliflower—both roasted and cauli-steak, medjool date rice, tahini date salad and the tahdig was so unique with a buttery crusted top and extra crispy texture. The plates come out mostly tapas style/portion size and they will recommend ordering many, many plates for sharing. You really can’t go wrong with anything, we loved everything we had. Flavors are phenomenal, ambience is lovely and quaint, they also have a quiet dining room downstairs. Also, definitely get the ice cream for dessert, it is do die for! We had no expectations but this was truly one of the best meals I’ve had in NYC!

  I had heard great things about this restaurant from a friend of the restaurant owners family. But my actual visit just blew me away. I attended a 60th birthday party for a friend and everything from the customer service to the wonderful dishes, flavor, and quality of the food and the ambience was top notch. An unforgettable dining experience. I highly recommend Sofreh Brooklyn.

  Booked for a group of 6 and they were very accommodating. When we came in we had several servers come with boxes for us to put our jackets and purses in to put under the benches. We had several friends who had food restrictions and they were so helpful in substitutions or giving recommendations. Food and drinks were great. Would recommend the mushroom starter, the tahdig, and duck. Would definitely go back.

  WARNING: AVOID THIS RESTAURANT AT ALL COSTS If I could give MINUS 10 STARS, I would -- and even that would feel generous after the appalling experience we had at Sofreh. We were a party of six, excited for a lovely evening -- until we were ambushed by the most absurd, insulting, and downright infuriating policy I've ever encountered in a restaurant. Three of us ordered Ghormeh Sabzi, a dish clearly listed on the menu. What followed was pure madness. The waitress -- who was apologetic but clearly embarrassed -- came back to inform us that only two Ghormeh Sabzis are allowed per table. What?? Is this a fine-dining prison? A stingy dinner party with rationing rules? When I questioned this outrageous restriction, she offered to ask the owner -- who, unbelievably, showed up to double down on the insanity. The owner, with a straight face, said they could not serve us a third plate because they needed to "save some for future guests." EXCUSE ME? So now customers who are physically in the restaurant, ready to order and pay, are less important than hypothetical people who might show up later? That is not customer service -- that's customer sabotage. It's arrogant, disrespectful, and economically illiterate. In what universe do you turn away business so you can hoard stew for phantom diners? We left immediately, disgusted. The owner of Sofreh should not be running a restaurant -- or any business, for that matter. They've mastered the art of driving customers away with a smug smile and a bowl of stew they refuse to serve. If you enjoy being treated like a nuisance instead of a guest, by all means, give Sofreh a try. Otherwise, do yourself a favor: RUN FAR AWAY. -- for the next place that actually wants your business.
