  Outstanding food and a really cool upscale atmosphere. We went with the waiters recommendation for appetizers and main courses and everything was perfect. We were with a fairly large group (7) and everyone's order came out on time and was done exactly to their requests. If your near The Foquet I highly recommend this place.

  We booked Fouquet’s Cozy Christmas Dinner prix fixe for my birthday — the day of my actual birthday, which was clearly noted on the reservation. At over $400, this was one of the most upsetting and disappointing dining experiences I’ve ever had. We dine at restaurants of this price point and higher regularly — prix fixe menus, Michelin-starred restaurants, and special tasting experiences all over New York. Our expectations were not unreasonable. This dinner was the only thing planned to celebrate my birthday. I love Christmas, Christmas movies, and a cozy French dinner, which is exactly what Fouquet’s had advertised. From the moment we arrived, it was obvious the restaurant was unprepared for a timed seating. Service was chaotic and disorganized. We were approached by at least five different staff members who were clearly not communicating with one another. Our main waitress (medium-long dark blonde hair) was visibly overwhelmed, short-tempered, and audibly complaining to colleagues within earshot and in view of guests throughout the night. To avoid delays—and because I wanted to settle in for the movie calmly—we ordered all courses upfront. I explicitly ordered, verbatim, “a weird combo of French onion soup, branzino, and profiteroles,” due to a shellfish allergy. Despite this, my appetizer arrived incorrectly as scallops, which I cannot eat. After politely pointing this out, my partner’s appetizer was placed in front of him and I was left waiting. The expediter never alerted a waitress, and the only person who eventually noticed—another waitress with short black hair who seemed to be the only one trying to keep the service together—came over after seeing that I had nothing in front of me for some time. My soup arrived 25 minutes later, long after my partner’s food had gone cold. By then, we were 15 minutes away from the movie downstairs, which was part of the experience. I asked if we would make it on time and was assured we would. We didn’t. At 8:00 p.m., the movie’s start time, we had only just gotten our mains. We rushed through our mains — I burned my tongue trying to eat quickly. And then we asked to pay so we can leave quickly. By the time we paid, dessert still hadn’t arrived. Unable to find a manager, I approached the hostess myself. This was my birthday — the one thing I had planned — and by this point I was visibly distressed and close to tears. When the manager finally came over, he offered a brief apology and two glasses of mediocre champagne, saying he would “delay the movie.” This was not even remotely sufficient given the cost of the dinner, the service failures, and how upsetting the situation had become. Dessert arrived at 8:15 p.m. (we were not allowed to take it downstairs) and we rushed through it knowing any delay would be minimal. There was no real accountability, no meaningful attempt to make things right, and no acknowledgment of how deeply disappointing this was — especially on my birthday, which was also unacknowledged the whole night. Staff disorganization and audible complaints continued throughout the evening. Thinking about this night still makes me upset. I have never felt so unheard or invisible in a restaurant, and I genuinely hate being “that person.” What should have been a warm, celebratory experience turned into one of the worst birthdays I’ve had because of poor planning, disorganization, and indifference. Fouquet’s needs to seriously reassess its service standards.

  We are in NYC for my wife's very special birthday meeting family and we wanted to be sure that we could get a table at the Speakeasy bar otherwise we would not have made the journey across town. I called three times before and was given the same advice that even if a table was not immediately available we would be almost certainly seated within 30 minutes. As soon as we arrived at 5.15 it was obvious that we had been misled. There were many tables with reserved signs on them apparently for hotel guests. We sat in the lounge area, ordered a drink after being told again that the table again would most probably become available. An hour later we asked to speak to Adam, the manager, but unfortunately he did not possess the basic courtesy to come and speak to us. We felt disppointed, angry and frustrated in the way in which we had been handled. It's pretty obvious from what we observed that this is an ongoing problem and that the management simply cannot be bothered anymore.
