  First visit and absolutely unforgettable. I had the privilege of dining here as a guest of Amazon and want to thank them for hosting at such an incredible place. From the moment we arrived the ambiance was perfect, a seamless blend of upscale, modern, and inviting. The service was impeccable, attentive without being intrusive, with drinks and food flowing throughout the evening, literally. The culinary experience was outstanding. Every dish was vibrant, flavorful, and beautifully presented. Dish after dish, I was fulfilled and it was outstanding. Crazy because just last week we were at Resident’s 58th Street location with a Michelin chef, yet Chinese Tuxedo matched that level of quality and creativity with ease. The entire evening felt effortless, with the kitchen and bar working in perfect harmony. There was never a pause, never an empty glass, and every plate impressed. You can feel the pride in every detail from presentation to pacing. (Wish I’d taken more pictures but was having too much fun!) An absolutely top tier dining experience in NYC. Although we were over 20 guests, nonstop delight. Whether for a special event, a business dinner, or a night out with friends, Chinese Tuxedo delivers on every level.   This review is long overdue but this place is a 10/10. We had a party of 12 in their enclosed space and selected their pre-fixe menu for my mother’s 60th birthday. I was super nervous because my family is from the Caribbean which means their taste buds are picky but I wanted to find a place that was different and also had well seasoned and flavorful food. They accommodated all my switches on the prefixe menu because I knew what my family would enjoy. Let me just say this,l.. Their food is top notch, their service top notch, their ambiance top notch. Run, don’t walk! Thank you for making my Mother’s birthday special! We will be back!

  Update: I reached out to Managing Director, Andrew notifying him of the situation below and he immediately responded and helped us book the bottle service at Peachys and reserve tables at Chinese Tuxedo. Chinese Tuxedo: The experience for my party of 17 was phenomenal at Chinese Tuxedo. The family style meal had so much food and our server, Nathan was AMAZING. I'm from Shanghai and the food was phenomenal -- all my guests were impressed. They also had a wide variety of gluten free options. Peachys: Shoutout to Courtney and the service at Peachys because all 38 of my guests at the party had a great time. The DJ that night was nottttt great. Unfortunately, there wasn't a lot of dancing but the service and experience made up for the music. I would have given this experience 5 stars if it wasn't for the experience me and my husband initially had. Unfortunately, had we not reached out so aggressively, we would've been left with no opportunity to book eight days before the event. However, it definitely was acknowledge by management and remedied. ------------- While I have an appreciation for the ambiance and some of the curated menu items, I want to submit a post about the awful service and experience I had with Event Coordinator, Maria. My husband tried planning a surprise MBA graduation party two months before the expected date. After trying to make a reservation for 18 and asking guests to fly in, 8 days before the expected party date, Maria let us know that the reservation was given away. So disgusting.

  If you are booing for a large group, general reservations in the main dining room open 14 days in advance. Set a reminder on your phone and book on Resy at midnight the day reservations open. You can book groups up to 12 people through Resy. You will be required to order the 88 Tasting menu. It’s delicious but it’s lot of food (maybe too much food). We ordered for 10 people and everyone was stuffed by the end. We had a huge paper bag full of leftovers. Cocktails are good but expensive, just expect that going in. All cocktails in Manhattan are around $20 each these days. It’s a fun environment and the food is great. Of course the location can’t be beat.

  What was supposed to be a fun Friday night for our group of six turned into an extremely upsetting and humiliating experience. One of my friends had worked all day and was tired. After having about three drinks, he leaned back on the couch to rest for a moment. A female server came over and told us that we had to leave because she believed he was sleeping and said that guests were not allowed to sleep inside the bar. The problem is that my friend immediately sat up and made it clear that he was awake and was NOT sleeping. Despite that, the server still insisted that our entire group of six leave. There was no attempt to clarify the situation, no warning, and no reasonable conversation after my friend demonstrated that he was fully awake. We were simply told to leave. The way the situation was handled made us feel singled out, unwelcome, and deeply uncomfortable about whether we were being treated differently. What makes this experience particularly disturbing is the irony of the establishment itself. This bar heavily uses Chinese culture as part of its identity and commercial appeal, from its traditional Chinese theater-inspired décor to its name and overall concept. As Chinese customers, it was incredibly upsetting to sit in a business that profits from Chinese culture while being treated in a way that made us feel discriminated against and unwelcome. You cannot use our culture as an aesthetic and a marketing tool to attract customers and make money, while treating Chinese customers with this level of disrespect. I also have serious concerns about the service experience given that our party of six was subject to a mandatory 20% gratuity. I understand that automatic gratuity for larger parties is common, and the gratuity itself is not my complaint. My concern is that when a substantial tip is guaranteed regardless of the quality of service, customers should still be entitled to basic professionalism, respect, and fair treatment. A mandatory 20% gratuity should never mean that staff can treat customers however they want without accountability. To be clear: my friend was awake, he sat up when confronted, and he explicitly demonstrated that he was not sleeping. We were still told that all six of us had to leave. We came here expecting to enjoy a Friday night together. Instead, we left feeling embarrassed, disrespected, and deeply disappointed. For an establishment that chooses to build its brand around Chinese culture, I would expect it to show the same level of respect toward Chinese people who walk through its doors.
