  This place has levels to it! (Literally) As described, there are several l different experiences here. I was a part of a cooperate event in the middle level. The room was cozy, as you’d expect as well as beautifully decorated and the ambiance was real. I’ll definitely be adding it to my list of places I’d like to return.

  I was here for a private event with a tasting menu. I usually don’t get the hype behind tasting menus with their small portions and nor am I fan of seafood. Roscioli changed my mind on both - I was blown away by the food and the wine, and the service was phenomenal too. I would definitely come back here on my own, and would recommend this place to anyone looking to host a private dinner.

  My wife and I have visited this restaurant often from Westchester an easy hour drive for us and our experiences have been good. Because of that, we were excited to share the restaurant with our family. Since this was going to be a party of 10, I reached out about a month in advance to request a 6:00 PM reservation. At that time, I was advised to contact you again 10 days prior to the desired date. We followed those instructions, only to be told that you would not be able to accommodate the request and that our options were an 8:45 PM seating, changing the date, or going through the events department. What we don’t quite understand is why we weren’t informed a month ago that a party of this size might require coordination through the events department. That would have allowed us to plan accordingly and avoid this situation. We also believe that accommodating the reservation may have been possible, especially with the downstairs open for regular seating. We were hoping to create a positive experience for our family, which is why this has been very disappointing.

  The ambience is gorgeous and the lighting feels soft and full. Both the large group dinner and my single meal at the bar were executed with the smoothest service. An effortless alertness of just the right moment to be present, to pour another glass, or to answer any sudden inquiry. Each dish and glass felt carefully selected. At every turn, the level of attention to detail and the willingness to be in the moment was spectacular. It was as if every person on staff was there just for us, even as the roar of the dining room could prove otherwise. We can not wait to come back. After searching so long for elevated service with genuine presence and thoughtfulness, we have finally found somewhere that both feels like home and transportive to another time and place. With so much gratitude and appreciation, we look forward to the next time.

  I recently went to a tasting at Roscioli that included specialty wine pairings from a small producer and after having been to Roscioli in Rome, I was concerned that this experience wouldn't live up. But thankfully I was wrong--the food, the wine, the service were all delightful, with staff not missing a beat to keep the food coming and the wine flowing. Granted, this was a different experience than eating upstairs, so I can't speak to that--though would be happy to give it a go, if I could ever get a reservation--but I imagine the experience is equally as polished and enjoyable. If I had any gripe, it would be the one I have with most high profile West Village restaurants: They can draw a pretentious crowd. Luckily the group for our tasting menu was largely people you'd be all too happy enjoying some mezze maniche and barbara d'alba with, though when we walked through the upstairs restaurant it did some significantly more trust fund-y and transplant-y.
