  This past weekend we went to Il Mulino for a bachelorette party with 18 girls. We dealt with the manager, Bruce, who was a pleasure to work with! He made everything so easy and accommodated all our needs. The food was delicious, the portions were large, the service was wonderful, and the atmosphere was great! I highly recommend this restaurant!!!

  We had an amazing fine dining Italian meal at Il Mulino Downtown. Right from the service, wine, food and dessert, everything was spot on. Another fun night out for our group of 8. We made reservations and got a table at 5:45pm. For wine we ordered 2 liter bottle of 2004 La togata brunello di Montalcino. It was delicious. Every pasta dish we got was excellent. Complimentary appetizers served as soon as you get seated. Brushetta, aged parmesan cheese, fried zucchini in garlic, Soppressata and garlic bread. We also got burrata which was superb. My favorite pasta was Capellini Il Mulino - Wild mushrooms, pancetta and sweet peas in a vodka cream and black truffle sauce. Best vodka sauce I have ever had. Special pasta - pappardelle with sausage and red sauce was delicious and so was pappardelle with meatballs. Grappa was on the house in end. We had a good time.

  We recently celebrated a family birthday at Il Mulino, a restaurant we have always enjoyed and held in high regard. Unfortunately, this visit was extremely disappointing and fell well below the standard we have come to expect. Our waiter was obnoxious, inattentive, and dismissive, and made little effort to listen or provide appropriate service. Wearing a cowboy hat and horses head is not appropriate. The food was average, and the overall experience was simply not what we are accustomed to at Il Mulino. To make matters worse, a dessert platter was brought to our table for the girls’ birthday without being requested or approved by us, and we were subsequently charged approximately $80. This was completely inappropriate and should never have been done without first asking the customer. Unfortunately, based on this experience, we will not be returning to this location. New York has many excellent dining options, and we will choose to spend our money elsewhere. I hope management takes this feedback seriously, as this experience has significantly changed our impression of the restaurant.

  Great Italian old school spot. Cozy but we had a big group and it was still fun. Waiting staff was accommodating and brought out many free appetizers.

  The food took forever, but we were party of a large party. HOWEVER it was totally worth the wait for shrimp fra diavolo. The seafood tasted so fresh. All the appetizers were delicious. Would definitely come back again!
