- private room birthday, party of 12
Cosme is truly a hidden gem in NYC’s Flatiron District! ✨ I had the pleasure of attending a private birthday dinner for my best friend with a group of 12, and the experience was nothing short of EPIC. From the outstanding service to the incredible atmosphere, food, and drinks, everything was top-notch. 🍽️🍷 We dined in the private room at the back of the restaurant, which made our evening even more special. The duck carnitas 🦆🌮 and cauliflower tomalley 🥦🔥 are absolute must-tries—flavorful, unique, and beautifully presented. Without a doubt, 10/10! ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ My only two suggestions: It would have been nice to have the same server throughout the evening for a smoother experience. Also, with my 15 years in the NYC restaurant industry, I understand closing times, but we did feel a bit rushed toward the end ⏳. A little more breathing room would have made it perfect. That said, these are just small notes on an otherwise amazing experience. Highly recommend Cosme for anyone looking for an elevated yet warm and welcoming dining experience. Can’t wait to come back! 🙌 #CosmeNYC #HiddenGem #NYCEats #MexicanInspired #PrivateDining #Foodie #DuckCarnitas #FoodLover #EpicDinner #NYCRestaurants #FlatironDistrict #10OutOf10
- group dinner, party of 6
Cosme is a true celebration of flavor and elevated Mexican cuisine. From the moment you walk in, the ambiance strikes the perfect balance—elegant, warm, and thoughtfully designed, with well-spaced tables that allow for comfortable conversation without overhearing your neighbors. The service was outstanding—attentive without being intrusive. Our party of six ordered everything at once and shared family-style, and the pacing of each course was spot on. We started with all the appetizers, and it was nearly impossible to choose a favorite. The scallops al pastor, the corn, and the bass were each exceptional in their own way—beautifully prepared and bursting with flavor. For mains, the standout was the duck carnitas—tender, rich, and perfectly executed. An off-menu tomahawk ribeye, served with house-made salsa and fresh corn tortillas, was another highlight—arguably better than what you’d find at a top steakhouse. Although Cosme offers a thoughtful wine list, we found ourselves captivated by the cocktails. The spicy margarita was a favorite, and the mezcal flight was both fun and expertly curated. Unfortunately, we didn’t have room for dessert—but that only gives us another reason to return. We’re already looking forward to our next visit.
- large party dinner
We recently visited Cosme with a large party, and while the experience had its highlights, there’s definitely room for improvement. The small dishes we tried were unremarkable overall, but the standout of the evening was the duck carnitas, which was absolutely delicious. If I were to return, I’d likely focus on the larger dishes, such as the duck and the steak (which we didn’t try). The desserts were a definite highlight as well—beautifully presented and truly enjoyable. However, there was a small hiccup with the timing: our espresso and drink orders didn’t arrive with the desserts, and we had to remind the staff to bring them out. While this was a minor oversight, it did feel consistent with the overall service, which was a bit uneven throughout the meal. One piece of feedback for the waitstaff would be to provide clearer explanations when presenting dishes. It would also enhance the experience if plates were cleared more proactively. On one occasion, I asked a staff member to clear a plate, and while she did have her hands full she said “In just a minute” then forget entirely. A more attentive response, such as “I’ll be right back,” might have felt more considerate. That said, I understand how busy things can get, especially with a large party, and the staff were otherwise polite. With a bit more attention to detail, I think Cosme could provide a truly exceptional dining experience.
