- butcher table dinner, party of 8
The food was excellent but the service was terrible. Service and quality of food goes hand in hand, and based on the poor service, I do not recommend this establishment to potential diners. Party of 8 dined at the Butcher Table and we were handed a prix fixe menu. Does not make sense to dine at the Butcher’s table given that our choices were extremely limited. Side salad was served and did not receive salad plates. Ordered glass of Sprite and waiter failed to bring the beverage to the table from the initial ask. Based on the poor service, I do not recommend potential customers to dine at this establishment.
- group celebration dinner, party of 6
My second time dining here, this time as a guest. The menu is beef-centric with a number of options and the sides are all perfection. NYC has its share of steak houses, however this is elevated, but not fussy. Go if you want a quality meal, outstanding, but unobtrusive service and a comfortable, elegant surround. Our party of 6 shared a perfectly cooked medium rare porterhouse and strip steak preceeded by autumn salads, razor clams, oysters and shrimp cocktail. Entrees were accompanied by crisp brussels, a vegan carrot plate, sautéed mushroom and perfect fresh French fries (all a la carte). We shared a bottle of red and multiple desserts. The final bill is not for the faint of heart, but is worth every cent. If you’re on an expense account, so much the better. Celebrating an event, this is the place! The bar is stunning - come early and have a cocktail.
- joint birthday dinner, party of 8
We came as a party of 8 and loved the atmosphere - intimate, upscale, lowkey. The service was a little slow at times but the team was super down to earth. It was a joint birthday celebration and they made it special with complimentary specialty desserts and singing. Our courses were good but I can't say anything really stoodout. Actually, the vanilla and raspberry soft serve probably was my highlight!
- group steak dinner, party of 6
I was with the party of six and half of us did not enjoy our steaks. However, I ordered the Caesar salad and the Hamachi appetizer and they were fantastic. Given that it’s a steakhouse, the steak should be their top priority. My steak was served room temperature and too chewy for a $96 piece of New York strip. The wine list was outrageously marked up to 200 to 300%. I understand that they have to pay their rent, but they should not pass that cost onto the customers by marking up the wine so outrageously high. The corking fee is insane in that they want $100 for a bottle of wine for two people and $200 for anything up to 1.5 L. Plus, they will not allow you to bring any wine that they serve, understandably. However, the high corking fee is just stupid. My belief is that if a restaurant is good, you’re coming for the food, not for the wine. The ridiculously high corking fee is big turn off. The dining room is extravagant, but it’s more for a big party type of place because I saw parties of two dining on a table the size of a coffee table. It looks as if they were trying to find any space available to place smaller tables. I would not recommend a romantic dinner for a small party at this place.
- business lunch, party of 4
We had a business group of 4 for lunch yesterday, and the experience was perfect. The dining room was elegant, the service was impeccable and the food was excellent. I very much enjoyed my Caesar salad followed by salmon that was cooked to a beautiful moist texture and flavor.
